Finally, patients with plasma samples inducing neutrophil activation in RNA-dependent manner had increased levels of interferon alpha, IP-10 (p<0.05), ICs (p<0.05), and reduced complement C3 levels (p<0.01), indicative of IC-driven disease.<h4>Conclusion</h4>The data support IC-driven RNA-sensing by TLR8 in neutrophils is a key mechanism of neutrophil activation in SLE. The gene discussed is TLR8; the disease is systemic lupus erythematosus.
