Increasing studies have confirmed that oxidative stress is the core pathological aspect of ischemia-reperfusion injury, and the overproduction of ROS and the over-depletion of antioxidant enzymes, such as SOD and glutathione peroxidase, are the important causes of oxidative stress injury (Zhang et al., 2022; Kelmanson et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene SOD1 and ischemia reperfusion injury.
