In the prospective study by Botma et al. [11], looking at 486 MMR gene mutation carriers and following the adjustment of the model concerning age, sex, colorectal adenoma history, and extent of colonic resection, the dietary pattern consistent with a high intake of snack foods (chips, fried snacks, fast food snacks, spring rolls, mayonnaise-based sauces, cooking fat and butter, peanut sauce, ketchup, sweets, and diet sodas) emerged as causing a significant increase in colorectal adenoma risk (HR for highest vs. lowest tertile: 2.16; 95% CI: 1.03–4.49). This evidence concerns the gene MRC1 and colorectal adenoma.
