A novel strategy to obtain leukemia-specific antigens has been proposed by Kim et al. They proposed to create an “artificial” leukemia-specific antigen by editing out CD33 from normal HSCs, thereby generating a hematopoiesis resistant to anti-CD33 therapy and enabling specific targeting of AML with CD33 CAR T-cells [81]. This evidence concerns the gene CD33 and acute myeloid leukemia.
