Considering the positive effects of K. crenata on the pathophysiology of cardiovascular diseases and its traditional use in the mitigation of heart palpitations [16], the aims of the present study were (i) to isolate, identify, and quantify the chemical markers (bioactive principles) in an aqueous extract of K. crenata, (ii) to investigate the antihypertensive activity of the aqueous extract, alone and in combination with losartan, and (iii) to evaluate the effects of the extract on the activity of aortic MMP2. Here, MMP2 is linked to cardiovascular disorder.
