Nowadays, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) recommend sequencing actionable NSCLC genes, namely, EGFR, ALK, ROS1, ERBB2, MET, BRAF, KRAS, RET, and NTRK1/2/3. The identification of actionable genes has contributed to the molecular characterization of NSCLC [6,7]; however, due to the limited implementation of personalized medicine, some populations, such as Latin American NSCLC patients, have been poorly characterized [6]. The gene discussed is ALK; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
