LPA and atherosclerosis: Considering the clinical relevance of Lp(a) and LDL for ASCVDs and the importance of oxidized forms of lipoproteins in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, changes in the lipoprotein susceptibility to oxidation in patients undergoing LA may have a significant impact on their proatherogenic properties and may represent the pleiotropic effect of LA associated with a reduction in the rate of CV events.
