Elevated levels of IL-18 and correlations to diseases activity are reported in rheumatoid arthritis, lupus erythematosus, Wegener’s disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, and cardiac diseases (Novick et al., 2013) [15] and most recently also in Kaposi sarcoma herpes-associated diseases (Lage et al., 2024) [108]. The gene discussed is IL18; the disease is inflammatory bowel disease.
