Interestingly, the study suggested that Gal-1 plays a role in bone disease in MM, as low Gal-1 expression in vitro enhances bone resorption, and the absence of Gal-1 in the bone microenvironment accelerates the development of bone disease, indicating a regulatory role of Gal-1 in the bone marrow niche [34].
