Sodium glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors have emerged as integral therapeutic tools in managing patients with overlapping cardiovascular disease (CVD), chronic kidney disease (CKD), and metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity [1,2], which was recently conceptualized as cardiovascular–kidney–metabolic (CKM) syndrome in stages 2, 3 and 4 [3,4]. This evidence concerns the gene SLC5A2 and chronic kidney disease.
