Kidney tissue from adenine-fed mice demonstrated significantly higher levels of tumor necrosis factor alpha expression (TNFα Log2FC = 4.38 ± 0.065; Figure 6A, p < 0.0001), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β Log2FC = 3.24 ± 0.53; Figure 6B, p < 0.0001), transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ Log2FC = 1.50 ± 0.29; Figure 6C, p = 0.0001), Kidney Injury Marker 1 (KIM1 Log2FC = 3.45 ± 0.93; Figure 6D, p = 0.0031), and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL Log2FC = 6.79 ± 0.51; Figure 6E, p < 0.0001) relative to the control-diet mice. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is kidney injury.
