CRP and gestational diabetes: The first systematic review on probiotics and GDM that included more than one trial (one Norwegian prospective cohort study [86], one Finnish randomized trial resulting in three publications [83,84,87] and an Iranian randomized trial which results were also published in three different articles [88,89]) concluded that, despite the variety of strains, dosages and outcomes, these products seemed to be safe and reduced maternal fasting glucose, GDM, and pre-eclampsia rates and levels of the C-reactive protein [90].
