GNPTAB is involved in mucolipidosis II and III, two lysosomal disorders with neurologic symptoms [35], and harmful variants in GNPTAB have been identified both as a risk factor for the development of Parkinson’s disease [36] and as enhancers of α-synuclein neurotoxicity in Drosophila [37]. This evidence concerns the gene GNPTAB and mucolipidosis type II.
