Indirubin 216, a major component of Polygonum tinctorium, synthesized by Sugai et al. (2020), accelerates the differentiation of 3T3-L1 cells by increasing triglyceride accumulation in the cells, thus becoming a good activator of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARg), and could be used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes [206,207]. Here, PPARG is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
