MAPT and Cognitive impairment: Early Life Changes in Gut Microbiota and Cognitive Impairment: Alterations in gut microbiota composition early in life in ADLPAPT mice lead to chronic intestinal inflammation and loss of epithelial integrity, resulting in systemic inflammation. This is closely linked to Aβ deposition, tau pathology, reactive gliosis, monocyte recruitment, intestinal macrophage dysfunction, and cognitive impairment. Colonization with normal microbiota significantly mitigates these pathogenic characteristics.
