Notably, PLK1 inhibitor-treated mice developed anemia, as evidenced by a rapid decline in peripheral red blood cell (RBC) parameters, hemoglobin (HGB) levels, and hematocrit (HCT) were significantly reduced following PLK1 inhibitor administration, whereas white blood cell (WBC) counts, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), and mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) remained unaffected (Figure 4B).
