Although recent studies have shown the critical roles of m6A in the survival and stemness of intestinal stem cells (ISCs) during intestinal development and tumorigenesis (Han et al., 2020; Chen et al., 2021; Zhang et al., 2022), how m6A mRNA modification controls the self-renewal and differentiation of Lgr5+ stem cells and then affects intestinal development, homeostasis, and IBD are still unclear. The gene discussed is LGR5; the disease is inflammatory bowel disease.
