Studies have demonstrated that a number of HDPs, including the African clawed frog Xenopus laevis’s Magainin 1 and 2, Caerulein precursor fragment (CPF-AM1), and peptide glycine leucine amide (PGLa-AM1) stimulate the release of the immunomodulatory molecule glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1), which reduces the immune system’s response to infection (Ojo et al., 2013; Insuela and Carvalho, 2017). The gene discussed is GCG; the disease is infection.
