Previously, we reported that under hyperglycemic conditions in diabetic nephropathy, de-ubiquitination of MR protein is induced by phosphorylation by the protein kinase C pathway [14] and O-linked N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) modification by the hexosamine pathway, resulting in the elevation of MR protein levels and aldosterone-mediated MR transactivation [22]. The gene discussed is NR3C2; the disease is diabetic kidney disease.
