In a study by Pan et al., HOXD10 was found to activate expression of miR-7 and IGFBP3 and to lead to a biologically inhibitory phenotype, suggesting a potential therapeutic role in colorectal cancer and demonstrating that HOXD10 is frequently methylated and silenced and contributes to development of this type of cancer.25 The gene discussed is HOXD10; the disease is cancer.
