In recent years, NTHi has mainly been identified in recurrent AOM, chronic AOM, as well as cases of complicated antibiotic treatment [1,2]. This case revealed a beta-lactamase positive, ampicillin-resistant strain (BLPAR) with a presence of TEM - 1 β-lactamase, responsible for low-level beta-lactam resistance. NTHi is an adaptable commensal that binds to various host proteins through epithelial attachment and serum factor capture. The gene discussed is LACTB; the disease is infectious otitis media.
