It has been observed that protein levels of ZnT1 were altered in a variety of neuronal cell types in AD patients: Higher in amygdala, hippocampus/parahippocampal gyrus and inferior parietal lobule, while ZnT1 protein levels were lower in the superior and middle temporal gyrus (Lovell et al., 2005).
