Serum biomarkers such as carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and carbohydrate antigen 19‐9 (CA199) have been utilized for phenotyping CRC, but the diagnostic sensitivity of CEA is less than 53%, and the diagnostic sensitivity of CA199 is less than 36% [6, 7, 8]. This evidence concerns the gene CEACAM5 and colorectal carcinoma.
