Preliminary investigations in observational and randomized controlled trials have indicated that women with PCOS exhibit higher serum homocysteine (Hcy) levels, along with higher levels of markers of CVDs, such as hs-CRP, soluble CD40 ligand (sCD40L), and asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) than did healthy controls (211, 212). This evidence concerns the gene CD40LG and polycystic ovary syndrome.
