The mutant fitness data suggest conditional essentiality for a number of diverse transporters in amastigotes across infection models: the ABC transporters LABCG5 (LmxM.23.0380; shown to be involved in heme salvage in L. donovani40), ABCI3 (LmxM.32.3040) and LmxM.33.0670, a calcium-activated potassium channel (CAKC; LmxM.01.0810), three mitochondrial carrier proteins (MCP2/MCP22 LmxM.31.1110, LmxM.08_29.2780, MCP6 LmxM.33.3060) and an organic solute transporter (OST) family protein (LmxM.36.6690) and one MFS protein of the PAD surface transporter family (LmxM.30.3170). Here, ABCG2 is linked to infection.
