Therefore, considering that VSMC stiffness is modulated by cofilin phosphorylation through the RhoA-ROCK-LIMK signaling axis (Bravo-Cordero et al., 2013; Swiatlowska et al., 2022), modulation of LIMK activity may represent a novel therapeutic target to reduce arterial stiffness associated with aging and obesity.
