Among antithrombotics, DOACs and ADP inhibitors such as ticagrelor and prasugrel had the highest net DDD costs, whereby with 51.6% of the total annual drug costs in the examined stroke cohort, DOACs represented by far the largest cost factor in view of the greater prescription frequency and the usually lifelong use in cardioembolic strokes (Table 2).
