MAPK1 and brain ischemia: In this context, inhibiting ERK/calcium-dependent neutral protease-I2 signaling with PD98059 (an ERK inhibitor) or MDL28170 (a calcium protease inhibitor) substantially reduces the expression of these proteins, suggesting that blocking this signaling pathway can inhibit neuroinflammation and necrotic apoptosis associated with brain ischemia–reperfusion injury (Wang et al., 2021).
