Aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) is a mitochondrial enzyme that metabolizes acetaldehyde into non‐toxic acetic acid, influencing mitochondrial oxidative ATP production and reactive oxygen species (ROS) in various diseases, such as myocardial,[8] liver,[9] and neurological disorders.[10] Recently, more research has focused on the role of ALDH2 in renal pathologies, specifically in renal fibrosis, diabetic nephropathy, and AKI.[11, 12, 13] Xu et al.
