In patients with CKD, inflammatory biomarkers, including interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), CRP, fibrinogen, and serum albumin, have been shown to be independently associated with atherosclerotic events and death, suggesting that inflammation may play a key role in cardiovascular events and stroke in patients with CKD [25]. This evidence concerns the gene ALB and chronic kidney disease.
