A study involving 72 patients with congestive heart failure secondary to non-ischemic diseases (48 with dilated cardiomyopathy, 24 with hypertensive heart disease), none of whom were treated with statins, found elevated serum IFN-γ levels (92.69 vs. 66.41 pg/ml) compared to controls (32). Here, IFNG is linked to hypertensive heart disease.
