A randomized window of opportunity study in patients with early HER2-negative breast cancer has demonstrated that 3 doses of ME-344 in combination with a single dose of bevacizumab significantly decreased the proliferation biomarker Ki67 in tumors compared to bevacizumab alone, and the effect was more prominent in patients who had vascular normalization with bevacizumab as documented by 2[18 F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG)-PET [15].
