AGTR1 and Hypertension: It is known that the RAS is a biological and hemodynamic mechanism of regulating blood pressure (Bullock et al. 2001), in which the REN converts the angiotensinogen in the circulatory system into Ang‐I, which is further converted to Ang II by ACE that binds to angiotensin II type 1 receptor and induces vasoconstriction resulting in hypertension (Tipnis et al. 2000).
