TCF4 and psychiatric disorder: To date, substantial experimental data have accumulated, demonstratingthe important role of the TCF4 transcription factorin the development and functioning of the nervous system.TCF4 structure and function anomalies are shown to drive thedevelopment of Pitt–Hopkins syndrome, and variants in thegene are associated with a number of psychiatric disorders. However, the molecular mechanisms behind these conditionsremain unexplored, and our knowledge of the TCF4 upregulationand its downstream target genes is limited.
