At least six GLP‐1 receptor agonists have been or are being tested as potential treatments in persons with PD (McFarthing et al. 2022); among them is the peptide lixisenatide, which has demonstrated efficacy in attenuating motor impairment and preventing the loss of dopamine neurons in an MPTP mouse model of PD (Liu et al. 2015b). The gene discussed is GLP1R; the disease is Parkinson disease.
