GOSR2 and Febrile seizure (within the age range of 3 months to 6 years): The authors showed that treatment with sodium barbital, clonazepam, ganaxolone and ethosuximide resulted in a significant reduction of heat-induced seizures in flies with glial knockdown of Membrin, the orthologue of human GOSR2. Another study found that the serotonin precursor 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) suppressed heat-induced seizures in a Drosophila model of Dravet Syndrome but increased seizure-activity in a model of genetic epilepsy with febrile seizures plus (GEFS+) (Schutte et al., 2014).
