This case’s presentation of stable retinopathy with sparing of the optic nerve and retina may suggest an expansion of the spectrum of CRMP-5-related paraneoplastic syndromes. The role of CRMP-5 antibodies in this atypical presentation may alert clinicians to consider paraneoplastic retinopathy in similar cases of unexplained photophobia or visual disturbances. The gene discussed is DPYSL5; the disease is cancer-associated retinopathy.
