SLC22A4 and cancer: The association of OCTN1 polymorphisms with chronic inflammatory diseases (Pochini et al., 2012a) correlates well with the activity of this transporter in acetylcholine release described in vitro using both the recombinant protein (Pochini et al., 2012a), the protein extracted from the membrane of several cancer cell lines, as described in this work, or intact cells (Pochini et al., 2015).
