Furthermore, our findings, in conjunction with considerable biological and experimental evidence in the literature, strengthens the argument that certain radiomic features from routine radiologic images can be used as surrogate predictors of the expression of key genes in NSCLC (i.e., SLC35C1, BCL2L1 and MAPK1), which in turn could serve as biomarkers to predict clinical factors such as tumor molecular burden, response to therapies and metastatic potential.
