This is important because SNPs in ACTN4 are associated to hypertension in the general population (Chiang et al., 2014) and it is possible that ACTN4 is also involved in hypertension by modulating the ALMS1-NKCC2 interaction or acting independently on ALMS1 on NKCC2 to mediate its endocytosis.
