A study of 467 patients with HCC listed for liver transplantation showed that the presence of ≥3 of the following noninvasive criteria (the A-VENA criteria): AFP >1000 ng/dL; venous expansion; thrombus enhancement; neovascularity; and continuity with HCC characterized PVTT with 100% sensitivity and 93.6% specificity [13]. Here, AFP is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
