FAP and gastroenteritis: The Fap system is not exclusive to P. aeruginosa; other pathogenic bacteria also possess Fap-encoding genes, like Aeromonas caviae, and Laribacter hongkongensis, known to cause gastroenteritis and diarrhea, as well as Burkholderia gladioli, B. pseudomallei, Ralstonia pikettii, and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, which are associated with airway and lung infections (26, 28, 29, 30, 31).
