Necroptosis inhibitors are currently in clinical development, with a phase 2 trial currently evaluating the RIPK1 inhibitor SAR443122 in patients with cutaneous lupus erythematosus (NCT04781816), whilst recent published studies evaluating another RIPK1 inhibitor, GSK2982772, did not show efficacy in patients with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis [75] or with active ulcerative colitis [76]. Here, RIPK1 is linked to rheumatoid arthritis.
