TNFSF11 and osteoporosis: Osteoporosis is an inevitable degenerative skeletal disease in elderly people characterized by low bone mineral density (BMD) with high heritability.[1, 2, 3, 4] Previous genome‐wide association studies (GWASs) have successfully identified multiple loci associated with BMD and osteoporosis.[5] Some GWAS genes have been used as drug targets to treat osteoporosis, and successfully have entered clinical trials or have been marketed, such as Calcium sensing receptor, Dickkopf‐related protein 1, Sclerostin, and Receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand.
