In certain cancer types, mutations and amplifications of the DESI1 gene have been identified in the c‐BioPortal database (Figure S1) (https://www.cbioportal.org), suggesting that, like SENPs, DESI1 could be involved in the regulation of cell division and its deregulation could be associated with oncogenesis via the induction of chromosomal instability. The gene discussed is DESI1; the disease is cancer.
