Pathogenic TE insertions are associated with various hereditary cancers, including hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome (BRCA1, BRCA2, and BARD1) (Qian et al. 2017); Lynch syndrome (MLH1) (Solassol et al. 2019); and colorectal cancer (APC) (Cajuso et al. 2019).
