In the OSCC patient samples which showed an inverse correlation between miR-198 and TOPORS expression (18 patients) (Figure 5), we also observed the miR-198 levels to be positively correlated with CDKN1A (p21) levels in 11/18 tumor samples (viz., patient no. 8, 33, 43, 44, 47, 48, 49, 55, 57, 66 and 76) compared with their matched normal oral samples (Figures 5, 10), highlighting the biological relevance of miR-198-mediated TOPORS regulation on the p53-p21 signalling pathway. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and neoplasm.
