FAM96B forms an integral component of the MMXD complex (MMS19-FAM96B-XPD) and plays a critical role in chromosome segregation as well as the creation of the mitotic spindle.15 The downregulation of FAM96B in HCC may disrupt mitosis and result in increased accumulation of heterotypic nuclei, thus promoting tumor progression. This evidence concerns the gene ERCC2 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
