Different ocular therapeutic approaches have been used to treat AMD, including intravitreal injection, drug implant, laser photocoagulation, and photodynamic therapy.9 Intravitreal injection of anti-VEGF drugs is considered the most common option in AMD treatment10 since it allows high drug concentration to reach the retinal layer with minimal side effects from the localized ocular treatment, and the injection can be performed in-office. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and age-related macular degeneration.
