Further, our data indicates that 95% of patients with T1D were dispensed insulin, suggesting potential errors in primary care coding despite cross-referencing with hospital datasets; however, young and newly diagnosed individuals may receive insulin in hospitals or diluted forms without formal prescriptions (and thus, do not have a dispensing record in our dataset), and a small subset may have other forms of diabetes warranting further study. The gene discussed is INS; the disease is type 1 diabetes mellitus.
